What I present below is part of an ethnographic research conducted in the department of Tacuarembó, Uruguay. Part of it was financed by the Sectoral Commission for Scientific Research (CSIC) in its Initation Research Program. The main objective of this ethnography is to describe, confront and discuss popular and scientific knowledge related to Ethnomedicinal practices, especially Ethnobotanicals, in rural and urban populations selected in the department of Tacuarembó. Some of the specific objectives are to know about different daily practices that are transmitted to the new generations, ancestral knowledge related to popular medicine, especially medicinal plants. Social actors linked to popular medicine were interviewed: sellers and collectors of medicinal plants, organic producers, farmers, artisans, herbalists, older adults who use popular medicine within the family space, campaign healers, religion healers, doctors and other professionals. In this way, I rescued stories and practices of actors related to Ethnomedicinal practices. Inquiring in the current mechanisms of transmission and in different spaces of socialization, it allowed me to know different daily practices that are transmitted at a generational level about these ancestral knowledges. Finally, I was able to obtain significant information that allowed me to systematize the knowledge of certain Ethnomedicinal practices and especially Ethnobotanicals of medicinal plants in Tacuarembó.
