This article explores the impact of a group of potential academic risk events on the paths and educational attainment. These events would weaken educational and social links with the school, creating uncertainty about the accreditation level (in this case, Upper Secondary Education). Based on a panel study of a cohort of grade assessed by PISA in 2006, the article describes the relevance of risk profiles associated to various academic events. Sociodemographic features of students and the occurrence of events of the transition to adulthood are also discussed. Finally, it identifies a deficit of social protection against the risks of the transition to adulthood and its manifestation on the paths and educational attainment
