Patient satisfaction is considered a measure of health care quality. The objective of this study is to communicate the results of global satisfaction, and the associated variables in ambulatory surgery unit. An observational, descriptive and transveral study was performed to 206 patients of the day surgery unit. Global satisfaction and other variables such as information, waiting time, care, pain, and other postoperative complications were studied through telephonic surveys 24 hours after the surgery. The mean global satisfaction was 93,4% in a 0 to 100 scale. The experience was qualified as very satisfactory in an 81,6%, as satisfactory in a 15,5% and only 3% was qualified as unsatisfactory. The perception of privacy was good or excellent. Care or confort were good. The waiting time was not adequate for 29,6% of the patients, 31,6% did not receive information, and 33,5% referred the enviroment as cold, without significant influence in the global satisfaction. 67,2% reported some kind of pain. For 27,5% the perception of pain was moderated to severe with no influence in the global satisfaction. Although global satisfaction was elevated and the attention of health care staff was adequate, there are aspects such as waiting time, pain and coldness that must be corrected
