CARRIZO, Cecilia et al. Embarazo en paciente parapléjica con trombofilia. Ejemplo de trabajo de un equipo interdisciplinario. Rev. Méd. Urug. [online]. 2008, vol.24, n.2, pp.133-139. ISSN 1688-0390.
Summary Paraplegia is one of the most devastating conditions for a human being to live with, and multiple complications arise throughout its evolution. High incidence of the disease, as well as increased number of rehabilitated patients, result in more chronic spinal cord injured (CSPI) patients that are pregnant. We will describe the case of a pregnant paraplegic patient for whom combined, congenital and acquired thrombophilia was diagnosed. Little has been written about the changes in the sexual and reproductive rights of patients carrying this disease, which further delayed the diagnosis of thrombophilia as a coadjuvant factor for miscarriage. This patient -unusual in our country- was a true challenge for the entirety of the medical team, where multidisciplinary work enabled a successful end for the patient’s pregnancy.
