AYALA, Ricardo A.  e  KOCH, Tomás. Facing ethnography. Fine-tuning meaning through visual methods. Rev. Cien. Soc. [online]. 2024, vol.37, n.54, e302.  Epub 01-Jun-2024. ISSN 0797-5538.  https://doi.org/10.26489/rvs.v37i54.8.

Sociological ethnography has gained more acceptance among sociologists due to its ability to understand everyday life at a micro social level. Inductive thinking plays a crucial role in theoretical formulation as data gathering leads to the emergence of hypotheses, highlighting connections to universal patterns. However, ethnography literature tends to focus more on observation techniques, neglecting other field methods. To address this gap, this article discusses the use of visual methods, such as sociograms and participant-made drawings, in a case study. These tools enhanced the depth of meaning in the ethnographic research process.

Palavras-chave : ethnography; images; qualitative methods; creative methods; sociology.
