As of
2020, the journal Ciencias Psicológicas is published in the
continuous publication mode, with two issues per year. The first issue from
January to June and the second from July to December, which are integrated into
an annual volume. Financing sources
Ciencias
Psicológicas was
created in the Faculty of Psychology, currently forming part of the
Vice-Rector's Office for Research and Development of Universidad
Católica del Uruguay, in its Publications Unit. The journal is
financed by Universidad Católica del Uruguay and does not request any type of
charge for presenting, evaluating or publishing the articles. Open access policy This journal
provides open access to all its content. Under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC
BY 4.0), users have the right to view, download, store, print,
search, index and create links to the texts, provided that the original source
and the person in charge of its authorship are cited in all cases and
situations. Authors are
free to archive their article in institutional repositories and/or on their
personal web pages, always mentioning the publication with the corresponding
data. Following the Guidelines for Transparency and Openness Promotion (TOP)
in Journal Policies and Practices,
and
in compliance with Level 1 of Guideline 2
(Data Transparency), authors are required to include in the articles that result from original research a section on "Data Availability" in which they report whether the dataset used in their research is available and, if so, where to access it. Review process
The
article review process consists of two phases. The first is carried out by the
editorial team within a maximum period of 3 months. This phase includes the
review of formal aspects (format, bibliographic references, detection of
similarities) and the adjustment of the article to the explicit criteria in
focus and scope. In this phase, the article can be rejected, request
modifications or sent directly to external review. In the
second phase of manuscript evaluation, the peer review model is followed, where
the anonymity of the parties –authors and arbitrators– is preserved, known as
the double-blind system. At least two evaluators are selected from among
national or international experts in the area in which the work is registered.
The reviewers can accept, request modifications or reject the article. This
process takes an average time of 6 months, which may vary depending on the
tenor of considerations or the need for consultations with other experts. Ciencias
Psicológicas has
a form for the evaluation
of articles.
Manuscripts can be rated as: Recommended for publication, Recommended for
publication with comments or Not recommended for publication. In all cases, the
reasons for such qualification are requested. The Editorial Board may resort to
other arbitrators, in cases where the conclusions are incompatible with each
other or doubts arise regarding methodological aspects. In the
evaluation process, extreme care is taken to maintain the reserve about
author-referees. Once the assessment is generated, it is analyzed by the
Scientific Editor and sent to the authors for their consideration. The
article rejection rate for 2023 was 95 %. Plagiarism detection
policy
As part of
the initial evaluation process of the articles, and in line with the
international standards recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics
(COPE) to which the journal adheres, a plagiarism control of the manuscript is
also carried out using the software Crossref and Turnitin. In case of
suspicion of plagiarism, proceed based on the recommendations by COPE, where the reviewers agree to report possible fraud
or plagiarism of the evaluated research. In positive cases of plagiarism, the corresponding
actions will be taken to sanction the breach of the ethical principles to which
the journal adheres. Use of language
Authors
are encouraged to use language that does not discriminate or reproduce
discriminatory biases based on gender, race, age, disability, socioeconomic
status, sexual orientation, etc. Ethical principles
The Ciencias
Psicológicas magazine adheres to the guidelines of the
Committee on Publications Ethics (COPE) in terms of ensuring good practices in academic
publication. The journal is guided by international standards on intellectual
property and copyright. The editors are
committed to supervising the publication processes, following the highest
ethical standards. The editors will ensure that the articles are reviewed by
peer specialists on the subject, clearly informing about the publication rules.
The identity of the author will be respected, and compliance with good
practices will be supervised, ensuring the absence of plagiarism and the
avoidance of the manufacture of results and data (including its omission). The
journal reserves the right to retract an article and offer the necessary
clarifications in the event of any violation of this type. Authors must present the results of rigorous,
transparent and ethical research processes, assuming responsibility for
published research. The contributions of each one of the authors should be duly
indicated through the CRediT Taxonomy, as well as the mention of their own
related works on the subject previously published. Their research methods
should be described in such a way that the scientific community can corroborate
or replicate the data. They should also refrain from sending the manuscript
simultaneously to two or more journals. The sources of financing and conflicts
of interest, when they exist, must be explicitly detailed. In turn, the authors
should be willing to offer retractions or corrections if necessary. Reviewers perform the evaluation of the articles
voluntarily, with the mission to contribute to the improvement of the quality
of works, ensuring an objective and constructive review. To do so, they agree
to follow the guidelines provided by Revista de Derecho and undertake to meet the
policies of the peer-review process as well as the deadlines established for
the task. It is the responsibility of the reviewers to alert the Editorial Team
of any conflict of interest or circumstance that may prevent them from carrying
out a suitable and objective evaluation. Research ethics
Manuscripts
submitted for review must comply with international ethical standards
established by the American Psychological
Association and
the Declaration
of Helsinki. For all
research with human beings and animal experimentation, the endorsement of an
Ethics Committee will be required, providing specific data regarding the
institution and committee that granted the endorsement, number, and
corresponding date. The Method will include a section on ethical
considerations. In research involving potentially vulnerable people or groups,
the procedures and specific care taken to ensure compliance with the ethical
guidelines that apply to research with these populations will be detailed. Copyright
If the
manuscript is accepted, the authors agree to assign the copyright to the
journal Ciencias
Psicológicas according to the Creative Commons
Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), open access system, leaving the authors the
responsibility for the contents and opinions expressed in it, which do not
compromise the scientific opinion and policy of the journal. The
content of the article will not be subject to other rights by any other
publication, nor was it previously edited. If tables or figures taken from
other publications are reproduced, the written authorization of their authors
or publication rights owners will be provided, as appropriate. In all cases, it
refers to the APA regulation on the presentation of tables and graphs. Digital preservation
policy
Through
the LOCKSS system (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), the
journal Ciencias
Psicológicas is guaranteed a permanent and secure archive.
LOCKSS is an open-source program developed by the Stanford University Library
that allows libraries to preserve selected web journals by regularly searching
registered journals to collect and archive newly published content. Each file
is continuously validated against records from other libraries, so that any
damaged or lost content can be restored. The articles have DOI (Digital Object
Identifier) granted by the Crossref registration agency. Through the PKP
Preservation Network, preservation is also provided for any journal that is
in Open Journal Systems. |
