En arroz, la información nacional deestudios de fertilización con K es para materiales genéticos de distinto potencial y prácticas de manejo diferentes a lasactuales, con resultados no consistentes. El objetivo de este estudio fue explorar la respuesta a K en cultivos comerciales dearroz en la principal área arrocera de Uruguay, la Cuenca de la Laguna Merín. Durante las zafras de 2011-12 y 2012-13 seinstalaron experimentos de respuesta a K en tres cultivos comerciales de arroz, sobre suelos con 0,14, 0,19, y 0,25 cmol kg-1 Kintercambiable, medido con acetato de amonio 1 M a pH 7. Los tratamientos fueron cuatro dosis de K (30, 60, 120, y 240kg ha-1 de K2O) aplicadas como cloruro de K (KCl), más un control (sin K agregado). La concentración total de K en las hojasdurante el ciclo de crecimiento no cambió significativamente con la aplicación de K, pero sí aumentó el rendimiento de grano(P &lt; 0,02) en los tres sitios. La respuesta a K fue a las dosis más bajas aplicadas, y los aumentos en el rendimiento de granovariaron de 999 a 1.375 kg ha-1. Estos resultados indican la necesidad de continuar estos estudios en diferentes sistemas deproducción de arroz y suelos asociados.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary: Recent nutritional surveys and studies of response to the addition of potassium (K) in various non-irrigated crops have shownthat this nutrient is one of the limitings of the crop production in Uruguay. In rice, although there is national information of studiesof K fertilization, it is only for some varieties, with management practices different from the current ones, with non-consistentresults. The aim of this study was to explore the response to K in commercial rice crops on sites located in the main area ofrice production of Uruguay, the Laguna Merín Basin. During the crop season of 2011-12 and 2012-13, K-response trials wereinstalled in three commercial rice crops in soils with 0.14, 0.19, and 0.25 cmol kg-1 exchangeable K, measured with acetateammonium 1 M to pH 7. The treatments were four rates of K (30, 60, 120, and 240 kg ha-1 of K2O) applied as K chloride (KCl)plus a control, without K application. The total K concentration in leaves early in the season did not change significantly with Kapplication, but the grain yield was increased (P &lt; 0.02) in the three sites. The response was at the lowest doses applied, andthe increases in grain yield ranged from 999 to 1375 kg ha-1.
