<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en">
Abstract This study analyzes the translation of perceptual metaphors in Spanish verbs into English, German, and Japanese, based on a corpus built around the senses of sight, hearing, touch, and smell. Within the framework of cognitive linguistics, the study explores semantic correspondences and the stability of conceptual metaphors in translation. The evaluation followed the MQM model, focusing on semantic accuracy. The results show that visual metaphors are the most stable (1.00 in English and German; 0.90 in Japanese), while olfactory metaphors are the least consistent (0.70 in English; 0.60 in German; 0.80 in Japanese). Average semantic proximity was 0.87 in English, 0.80 in German, and 0.72 in Japanese. The findings confirm that translating these metaphors requires an understanding of the cognitive schemas and cultural conventions that shape each language. The greater conceptual distance observed in Japanese highlights specific challenges for intercultural translation.
</abstract>
