Esto se debe a que la densa red de fibrina que se forma actúa como un andamio celular y proporciona factores de crecimiento de manera sostenida, lo que promueve la curación. En este estudio se evaluaron dos casos clínicos de pacientes que presentaron fístula oronasal (FON) atendidos en el Servicio de Odontoestomatología de la Facultad de Veterinaria, Udelar. Se extrajo el diente afectado, se cerró la FON mediante un colgajo mucoperióstico y se colocó L-PRF en la cavidad dental para promover la cicatrización. En los controles posoperatorios de los días 7, 14 y 30 se observaron resultados favorables, sin complicaciones ni recurrencias para ambos casos clínicos. El uso de L-PRF en la resolución quirúrgica de la FON resultó ser una técnica rápida, económica y sencilla, fácil de realizar en una clínica veterinaria, inofensiva y de bajo riesgo, resultó un novedoso tratamiento para el cierre de defectos alveolares.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) is a second-generation blood derivative that can be utilized as a biological filler due to the dense fibrin network formed, acting as a scaffold for cells and sustained release of growth factors, aiding in wound healing. In this study, two clinical cases presented at the Odontostomatology Service of Facultad de Veterinaria, Udelar, involving patients with oro-nasal fistula (ONF) were evaluated. The affected tooth was extracted, and ONF closure was achieved using a mucoperiosteal flap and placement of L-PRF in the tooth socket to promote healing. Favorable outcomes were observed during postoperative follow-ups at days 7, 14, and 30, with complete closure and no complications or recurrences in both clinical cases. In these cases, the use of L-PRF placed with the mucoperiosteal flap was able to withstand oral mechanical forces, with no suture dehiscence or ONF recurrence, resulting in satisfactory healing. The use of this regenerative technique appears to offer a new approach for alveolar defect closure, with advantages including its speed, cost-effectiveness, simplicity, ease of implementation in a veterinary clinic, safety, and low risk.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo: A fibrina rica em plaquetas e leucócitos (L-PRF) é um produto sanguíneo de segunda geração que pode ser usado como preenchimento biológico. Isso ocorre porque a densa rede de fibrina que se forma atua como uma estrutura celular e fornece fatores de crescimento de forma sustentada, promovendo a cura. Neste estudo foram avaliados dois casos clínicos de pacientes que apresentaram fístula oronasal (FON) atendidos no Serviço de Odontoestomatologia da Faculdade de Veterinária da Udelar. O dente afetado foi extraído e o FON foi fechado com retalho mucoperiosteal e L-PRF foi colocado no alvéolo dentário para promover a cicatrização. Nos controles pós-operatórios nos dias 7, 14 e 30 foram observados resultados favoráveis, sem complicações ou recidivas para ambos os casos clínicos. A utilização do L-PRF na resolução cirúrgica da FON revelou-se uma técnica rápida, econômica e simples, de fácil execução em clínica veterinária, inofensiva e de baixo risco, resultando em um tratamento inovador para fechamento de defeitos alveolares.]]></p></abstract>
