Lostratamientos consistieron en la omisión individual de macronutrientes en la solución nutritiva más el tratamiento con la soluciónnutritiva completa. Durante la aparición de los síntomas de deficiencia, las concentraciones de nitrógeno, fósforo, potasio,calcio y magnesio fueron 27,6, 0,7, 26,1, 9,6 y 1,1 g kg-1, respectivamente. La deficiencia de nitrógeno se caracterizó por lapérdida del color verde de la planta, caída de flores, paralización del crecimiento apical, aparición de puntos negros en lashojas viejas y senescencia de las mismas. La deficiencia de fósforo comenzó con la aparición de una coloración verdeoscura de las hojas, seguida por la coloración púrpura de las nervaduras del envés, caída de flores, enrollamiento de lashojas nuevas, paralización del crecimiento, descoloración del limbo y abscisión de las hojas viejas. La deficiencia de potasioempezó con una clorosis y necrosis de las márgenes en las hojas nuevas, evolucionando a las hojas más viejas quepresentaban, además, necrosis de la región internerval, seguidas de la paralización del crecimiento apical. La deficiencia decalcio fue caracterizada por la aparición de frutos con podredumbre apical. Las plantas deficientes en magnesio presentaronclorosis internerval en las hojas ubicadas en el tercio medio, progresando, posteriormente, hacia las hojas más viejas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary: This study aimed to describe the macronutrients deficiency symptoms and determine the leaf content of the nutrient in theappearance of the symptoms of deficiency in sweet pepper. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, using the NutrientFilm Technique (NFT). The treatments consisted of the omission of macronutrients in the nutrient solution, in addition to atreatment with complete nutrient solution. The foliar nutrient contents at the appearance of the symptoms of deficiency were 27.6,0.7, 26.1, 9.6, and 1.1 g kg-1 for nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Nitrogen deficiency began with thechlorosis of the plant, followed by abortion of flowers, paralysis of apical growth, appearance of black dots and senescence ofolder leaves. Phosphorus deficiency began with the dark green of the leaves, followed dorsal surface of the veins becamepurple, abortion of flowers, curling of new leaves, growth stalling, limbo discoloration of old leaves and abscission of olderleaves. Potassium deficiency began with chlorosis and necrosis of the margins of young leaves, evolving to older leaves thatalso presented necrosis in the interveinal region, followed by the paralysis of apical growth. Calcium deficiency symptoms werecharacterized by the occurrence of fruits with blossom-end rot. Magnesium deficiency symptoms were characterized byinterveinal chlorosis of the middle third of the plant, progressing to the older leaves.]]></p></abstract>
