El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar el impacto de tres niveles de inclusión de panela líquida (5 %, 10 % y 15 %) en la dieta modificada de cuyes durante la etapa de recría y determinar los costos de producción vinculados. Un total de 64 cuyes fueron alimentados mediante un sistema de alimentación mixto (balanceado y alfalfa) y se registraron pesos corporales a los 15, 30, 45 y 60 días. El tratamiento con un 15 % de panela líquida demostró ser el más eficiente, ya que logró pesos corporales promedio de 358,75 g a los 15 días, 560,25 g a los 30 días, 742,50 g a los 45 días y 1016,25 g a los 60 días. El aumento total de peso durante el período experimental fue de 761 g, con una conversión alimenticia de 4,50. No se observó mortalidad en ninguno de los tratamientos y el consumo de alimento fue cercano al total, con residuos mínimos registrados. El análisis económico reveló que el tratamiento con 15 % de panela líquida obtuvo una relación beneficio-costo de 1,141, lo que indica que los beneficios netos fueron 0,141 veces lo invertido, lo que hace de este tratamiento una opción económicamente viable. Estos resultados sugieren que la inclusión del 15 % de panela líquida en la dieta de cuyes es una opción viable en términos de eficiencia y rentabilidad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The study was conducted in Guaranda Canton, located in the province of Bolivar, Ecuador. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of three levels of liquid panela inclusion (5 %, 10 %, and 15 %) in the modified diet of guinea pigs during the rearing stage, and to determine the associated production costs. A total of 64 guinea pigs were fed a mixed feeding system (balanced and alfalfa), recording body weights at 15, 30, 45 and 60 days. The 15 % liquid panela treatment proved to be the most efficient, achieving average body weights of 358.75 g at 15 days, 560.25 g at 30 days, 742.50 g at 45 days and 1016.25 g at 60 days. The total weight gain during the experimental period was 761 g, with a feed conversion ratio of 4.50. No mortality was observed in any of the treatments, and feed consumption was close to total, with minimal residues recorded. The economic analysis revealed that the treatment with 15 % liquid panela obtained a benefit-cost ratio of 1.141, indicating that the net benefits were 0.141 times what was invested, which makes this treatment an economically viable option. <abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo O estudo foi realizado no Cantão de Guaranda, localizado na província de Bolívar, Equador. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o impacto de três níveis de inclusão de panela líquida (5 %, 10 % e 15 %) na dieta modificada de porquinhos-da-índia durante a fase de criação e determinar os custos de produção associados. Um total de 64 porquinhos-da-índia foram alimentados com um sistema de alimentação misto (ração equilibrada e luzerna), registando-se os pesos corporais aos 15, 30, 45 e 60 dias. O tratamento com 15 % de panela líquida revelou-se o mais eficiente, atingindo pesos corporais médios de 358,75 g aos 15 dias, 560,25 g aos 30 dias, 742,50 g aos 45 dias e 1016,25 g aos 60 dias. O ganho de peso total durante o período experimental foi de 761 g, com um rácio de conversão alimentar de 4,50. Não se observou mortalidade em nenhum dos tratamentos, e o consumo de ração foi próximo do total, com um mínimo de resíduos registados. A análise económica revelou que o tratamento com 15 % de panela líquida teve um rácio benefício-custo de 1,141, indicando que os benefícios líquidos foram 0,141 vezes o investimento, tornando este tratamento uma opção economicamente viável.
