En su génesis se han involucrado diferentes factores. El objetivo de este estudio es valorar cómo se asocian diferentes variables sociodemográficas y hábitos saludables con la prevalencia de obesidad.  Materiales y métodos: se realizan dos estudios, el primero transversal en 139.634 trabajadores y el segundo longitudinal retrospectivo en un subgrupo de 40.431 trabajadores. Se valora la asociación entre la edad, el género, la clase social, el nivel educativo, el consumo de tabaco y alcohol, la actividad física y la dieta mediterránea con la prevalencia de obesidad determinada mediante cuatro escalas diferentes.  Resultados: todas las variables analizadas muestran asociación con la obesidad, observándose un mayor incremento del riesgo en personas que consumen alcohol, sedentarias, con baja adherencia a la dieta mediterránea y de edad avanzada.  Conclusiones: el perfil de la persona con alto riesgo de presentar obesidad sería un varón de edad avanzada, de nivel socioeconómico bajo, fumador y consumidor habitual de alcohol, sedentario y con baja adherencia a la dieta mediterránea.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Introduction: obesity is a major issue in most countries worldwide, as it significantly increases the prevalence of various health conditions. Different factors contribute to its development. The objective of this study is to assess how various sociodemographic variables and healthy habits are associated with the prevalence of obesity.  Materials and methods: two studies were conducted: the first was a cross-sectional study involving 139,634 workers, and the second was a retrospective longitudinal study with a subgroup of 40,431 workers. The study evaluates the association between age, gender, social class, educational level, tobacco and alcohol consumption, physical activity, and adherence to the Mediterranean diet with the prevalence of obesity, determined by four different scales.  Results: all analyzed variables show an association with obesity, with an observed increase in risk among individuals who consume alcohol, are sedentary, have low adherence to the Mediterranean diet, and are of advanced age.  Conclusions: the profile of a person at high risk of obesity is likely to be an older male, with a low socioeconomic level, who smokes, regularly consumes alcohol, is sedentary, and has low adherence to the Mediterranean diet.]]></p></abstract>

Diferentes fatores têm sido envolvidos em sua gênese. O objetivo deste estudo é avaliar como diferentes variáveis sociodemográficas e hábitos saudáveis estão associados à prevalência da obesidade.  Material e métodos: foram realizados dois estudos: o primeiro, transversal, com 139.634 trabalhadores, e o segundo, longitudinal retrospectivo, com um subgrupo de 40.431 trabalhadores. Avaliou-se a associação entre idade, gênero, classe social, nível educacional, consumo de tabaco e álcool, atividade física e adesão à dieta mediterrânea com a prevalência de obesidade, determinada por meio de quatro escalas diferentes.  Resultados: todas as variáveis analisadas apresentaram associação com a obesidade, observando-se um maior aumento do risco em pessoas que consomem álcool, sedentárias, com baixa adesão à dieta mediterrânea e de idade avançada.
