El trabajo aborda las aspiraciones de futuro que estos enuncian y los distintos factores que inciden en estas decisiones (institucionales, de agentes educativos específicos, familiares y personales). Sobre la base de una encuesta aplicada a 2500 estudiantes de 25 centros educativos de la ciudad de Santiago, se concluye que el proceso de decisiones vocacionales que ocurre en la etapa escolar no es homogéneo y, en la mayoría de los casos, está condicionado por un modelo institucional que ofrece pocas alternativas de elección a los jóvenes estudiantes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article discusses a study on the process 10th grade Chilean students of compulsory education use to make their vocational choices, paying particular attention to those opting for the curricular alternative of a technical profession. The work addresses their expressed aspirations for the future and the different factors that influence these decisions (institutional, by specific educational agents, family, and personal). Based on a survey of 2500 students from 25 schools in the city of Santiago, it is concluded that the vocational decision process that occurs in the school stage is not homogeneous and, in most cases, is conditioned by an institutional model that offers few choice alternatives for young students.]]></p></abstract>

O trabalho aborda as aspirações de futuro que enunciam e os diferentes fatores que influenciam essas decisões (institucionais, agentes educativos específicos, familiares e pessoais).
