Humans started to turn their need to transmit information into reality approximately 6,000 years ago. A few recent studies take that date further back to 8,000 years ago, when symbols, considered a basic writing system, began to appear. Cave paintings also helped transmit information long before that, as some of them can be traced back to 30,000 years ago. Writing was such a fundamental event that it was the starting point of what we know as history, which was separated from what came before that: prehistory. Written communication has become a solid cultural practice that is now crucial to humankind.
We know the importance of a publication written in our School, and as university people and health professionals, we have responsibly made the ethical commitment to spread the knowledge obtained through clinical practice and research so it can become universal.
A lot has happened between 2006 and this new Odontoestomatología: indexation, two issues a year, quality and quantity hand in hand, an unbeatable combination.
The English version comes to add to our efforts by exponentially increasing the number of readers and by renewing out commitment to quality. We are proud of what we have achieved and also aware that no project can have limitations if it results in better oral health for everyone.
Finally, to achieve oral health for everyone we must convince decision-makers and those who allocate financial resources that oral health is a universal right.
