Abstract

BALLESTERO, Diego. Towards an anticolonial praxis beyond the dictates of the Global North. Rev. urug. Antropología y Etnografía [online]. 2024, vol.9, n.2, e102.  Epub Dec 01, 2024. ISSN 2393-7068.  https://doi.org/10.29112/ruae.v9i2.2336.

This contribution analyzes critically the growing adoption of the “decolonial” perspective in the Anglo-Saxon academy, accounting for the risk of it being emptied of its original political and epistemological radicality. Through a bibliometric analysis, it evidences the linguistic and geopolitical hegemony of English and the institutions of the global North in the production and dissemination of “decolonial” knowledge. The paper further argues how this situation perpetuates colonial inequalities by co-opting and “translating” insurgent knowledges into Western instrumental logics. This discursive “decolonial” perspective is countered by an anti/countercolonial praxis, rooted in the historical struggles of the oppressed peoples of the global South, calling for the dismantling of entrenched colonial hierarchies and structures in the corporate academy and for radical transformation of all spheres of life in the face of existing coloniality.

Keywords : decoloniality; geopolitics of knowledge; anti/counter-colonial praxis; ecology of knowledges; Global South.
