Abstract

ARIZA, Lucía. The reproductive body in Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis of the embryo. Rev. urug. Antropología y Etnografía [online]. 2023, vol.8, n.1, e823.  Epub June 01, 2023. ISSN 2393-7068.  https://doi.org/10.29112/ruae.v8i1.1823.

With the aim of investigating the relationship between the (non) reproductive body and assisted reproduction in Argentina, this article explores assisted reproduction practictioners’ views regarding the possibility of genetically diagnosing the in vitro embryo. The article uses a theoretical framework based on the contributions of science and technology studies, Deluezian philosophy and the ontological turn to propose that the (non) reproductive body is the result of clinical practices, which suppose the agencement between (juridical) subjects and (technological) objects, rather than the product of subjective intentions and decisions.

Keywords : diagnosis of the embryo; assisted reproduction; Argentina.
