This article presents some research progress regarding the identification of territorial governance practices developed by black communities in a context of internal armed conflict in Colombia. Especially, it focuses on addressing the process of building the research question based on the co-work between the researcher and the communitarian organization, the Consejo Comunitario de Comunidades Negras de la Cuenca del río Tolo y Zona costera Sur- COCOMASUR (Colombian Caribbean), highlighting also the contrasts between the categories of analysis and the initial findings in the fieldwork.
