Abstract
FIRPO, Emilia and RIBERO, Gerardo. Professions imperatives. The identity as demand of the agronomy professionals. Rev. urug. Antropología y Etnografía [online]. 2017, vol.2, n.1, pp.87-99. ISSN 2393-7068.
The present essay is the result of a so far unconcluded research, which, from an anthropological qualitative perspective, enquires into the demand that arises from the concern of members of the Directive Committee of the Association of Agronomist Engineers of Uruguay (AIA) for knowing and making visible the foundations of the agronomic profession within the framework of their own association.
From the work done, the meaning of identity is problematized as “aporetic” and necessary for the social sciences, and the category identity “thought” by the subjects is studied in the different discourses and practices. As a native category, identity is revealed in the subjects memory and in the power relations that are enabled and restricted as a product of this narrated identity. The search for a narrative identity relies on a past-present dialectic, and it is important to know upto what extent those stories compose the subjects’ present identity, containing the idea of selfhood, as reaffirmation of the memory, of what was narrated.
