In the recent history of Brazilian education, in the course of the twentieth century, significant examples of the contribution of anthropology to the production of teacher knowledge emerged. This article retrieves the most significant moments of this approximation between anthropology and education in Brazil.

The presence of anthropology is part of the history of Brazilian education and its contribution is fundamental to achieve what in Brazil is called inclusive education. In order to develop the argument of this article, the key words of some specific debates and some singular moments in which the dialogue between anthropology and education was held to discuss the presence of students "out of the norm" were retrieved.
