CASTRO -GALVIS, Carlos Andrés et al. Clinical presentation of potassium citrate poisoning: First case report in Colombia. Rev. Urug. Med. Int. [online]. 2024, vol.9, e406.  Epub 01-Dic-2024. ISSN 2393-6797.  https://doi.org/10.26445/09.01.18.

Hyperkalemia is one of the pathologies that can be found in emergency settings, and can put the patient's life at risk by generating fatal arrhythmias. However, early identification through the use of electrocardiogram and clinical suspicion make its diagnosis fast and effective and therefore the start of treatment is early. We present a clinical case of potassium citrate poisoning causing severe hyperkalemia that was diagnosed and treated in one of the emergency services of a clinic in Cali. It is discussed as the first reported case of this type in Colombia.

Palabras clave : hyperkalemia; potassium citrate.
