Among the goals pursued by the law are justice, the common good, and legal certainty. Legal security, as the purpose of law, is also a core value and an integral part of its concept. The exploration of its definition opens pathways in different directions that need to be grasped. This article analyzes the various connotations arising from its fundamental divisions, its main manifestations in the Chilean legal system, and its essential problems.
