Abstract

GOMEZ TAGLE LOPEZ, Erick. Audiovisual violence and child protection. Rev. Derecho [online]. 2019, n.20, pp.57-89.  Epub Dec 01, 2019. ISSN 1510-3714.  https://doi.org/10.22235/rd.vi20.1867.

In this article violence on audiovisual media is discussed, specifically that on TV shows. These shows are targeted for an audience under the age of 18 and the characters depicted are apparently innocuous, but in most of the times their behavior is controversial, inappropriate or even antisocial. Being continuously exposed to such behavior could negatively influence on the audience's personality development; this argument is supported with examples and a discursive logic that proposes key questions, looking to arise the public opinion with a critic focus. The main objective is to protect the emotional intelligence and assertiveness of the children, keeping them from situations in which they could otherwise be easily targeted.

Keywords : audiovisual violence; antisocial behaviour; personality; childhood; child protection..
