Abstract

BASSET, Ursula C.. A Latin American identity:. Rev. Derecho [online]. 2018, n.17, pp.13-47. ISSN 1510-3714.  https://doi.org/10.22235/rd.v0i17.1517.

The article addresses the application of the right to respect for private and family life to children within the case-law of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. The author proposes discerning the Inter-American system’s cultural features that distinguish it from other regional human rights systems. She argues that Latin American identity within the field of human rights is a unique grammar, which recontextualizes the individual in a rich plexus of family, social, community and transgenerational relations; and constitutes, thus, a valuable narrative in dealing with children’s rights, especially in the case of vulnerable children

Keywords : children - family life - human rights - Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
