Abstract: The atmosphere of intolerance in contemporary democracies are incompatible with the concept of democracy, in a broader sense, which shows the close correlation between democracy and human rights, and also how human rights deficits are exposed in periods of economic and political crisis. This article discuss these subjects in the brazilian contemporary reality, touching the point of social ordinary relationships.
