DAVIS, Ana e SANCHEZ, Pablo. Is the term posboom still useful? Historiographical problems and a possible proposal. Humanidades [online]. 2026, n.19, e1916. Epub 01-Jun-2026. ISSN 1510-5024. https://doi.org/10.25185/19.16.
During the period known as the boom, a specific articulation of Latin American literature emerged, which has already been systematised by critics, but it is still necessary to delve deeper into how the subsequent rearticulation, visible in the 1970s, took place, which led to decisive changes in Latin American writers after the boom began to be considered obsolete. This article seeks to explore those aspects that have the greatest unifying and explanatory power of the so-called Latin American “post-boom”, as opposed to its predecessor, the boom. This objective will focus, in the second part, on the specificity of exile, exemplified by the specific case of Latin American writers exiled in Spain between 1973 and 1990, in order to consider how exile determined the new conditions of this historiographical category.
