CHOQUE-ALIAGA, Osman. Between Lüdemann and the Feeling of Power. Nietzsche and the Appropriation of the Notion of Means. Humanidades [online]. 2026, n.19, e195.  Epub 01-Jun-2026. ISSN 1510-5024.  https://doi.org/10.25185/19.5.

The concept of the “feeling of power” (Gefühl der Macht) in Nietzsche can be traced to his engagement with the work of the Protestant theologian Hermann Lüdemann, whose interpretation of the Apostle Paul influenced the theological context of the nineteenth century. Nietzsche became familiar with Lüdemann’s ideas on Pauline anthropology and creatively adapted them in his own reflections. This study argues that Nietzsche’s treatment of the “feeling of power” is closely linked to another central category: that of “means” (Mittel). Throughout the work, it is explored how these two categories interrelate, allowing for an analysis of power as a tension between its real and illusory dimensions. The first part focuses on Lüdemann and his contributions to Pauline anthropology, while the subsequent sections examine how the “feeling of power” and “means” operate within Nietzsche’s thought, specifying their scope and theoretical implications.

Palavras-chave : Nietzsche; Hermann Lüdemann; means; feeling of power; Mittel.
