Abstract

ROLDAN, Juan Pablo. Three moments, one idea. A philosophical concept about the development of the human being present in contemporary psychology. Humanidades (Montevideo. En línea) [online]. 2019, n.5, pp.38-59.  Epub June 01, 2019. ISSN 1510-5024.  https://doi.org/10.25185/5.3.

There are philosophical links between Romantic thought, materialistic positivism, psychoanalysis and some central ideas of current neurosciences. One of them, with many theoretical and practical consequences, is the metaphysical thesis that identifies the ‘temporal order’ and the ‘order of nature’ in human development -the expressions belong to St. Thomas Aquinas-. This hypothesis is illustrated here with the comparison between three moments in the history of psychology, having Cesare Lombroso, Sigmund Freud and Antonio Damasio as protagonists.

Keywords : History of Psychology; metaphysics; evolution; Freud; neurosciences; Antonio Damasio.
