Abstract

FILARDO, V.  and  GRAVINA, V.. Governance and types of subjectivity of social actors of Guichón on the Montes del Queguay protected area. Agrociencia Uruguay [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.spe, e351.  Epub July 01, 2020. ISSN 1510-0839.  https://doi.org/10.31285/agro.24.351.

The instruments for the protection and conservation of natural resources (such as protected areas) constitute paradigmatically cases of land use and territorial planning. Likewise, the processes of application of these instruments imply conflicts and differences in power and degrees of affectation between different local actors. The study of sociological systems underlines the importance of the simultaneous analysis of the ecological, social and cultural dimensions of the systems, due to their mutual adaptation and the feedback that exists between the different dimensions. The existence of conflicts between local actors, as well as the assessment that they carry out regarding the ordering and governance processes are relevant inputs to take into account in territorial management(1). This work presents the results of the second stage of an investigation on the Protected Area of Montes del Queguay Managed Resources in the department of Paysandú (Uruguay), that aimed to identify subjectivities, detect conflicts and tensions between the actors social around the territory, governance and ecosystem services in the area. The types of subjectivity identified in social actors that operate in the territory and are part of the governance system of the Area are presented, linked to the position they occupy in the social structure, based on the application of the Q methodology.
