ZURBRIGGEN, Cristina  and  SIERRA, Miguel. Collaborative Innovation: the Case of the National Livestock Information System. Agrociencia Uruguay [online]. 2017, vol.21, n.1, pp.140-152. ISSN 1510-0839.

The aim of this paper is to contribute to the discussion on new forms of governance to achieve sustainable development that can deal with complex, uncertain issues and with multiple actors involved with conflicting values and interests. In this scenario, the article aims to provide evidence of experimentation in innovation in public policy based on a case study: the National Livestock Information System. Specifically, it focuses on analyzing how the process of innovation through collaborative knowledge networks contributes to a better dialogue between science and politics, based on a pragmatic, reflective culture that fosters change, sustainability and the creation of public value. The key finding of the study is that the interaction between policy makers, farmers, scientists, information technology companies and other stakeholders, was driven by a pragmatic way of coproduction of knowledge that improved the understanding of the problem, design, and decision-making processes.
