FONTANA CABEZA, Juan José. The Positano building by architects Luis Garcia Pardo and Adolfo Sommer. Levitating architecture design. An. Investig. Arquit. [online]. 2023, vol.13, n.2, e208. Epub 01-Dic-2023. ISSN 2301-1505. https://doi.org/10.18861/ania.2023.13.2.3483.
The Positano building is an emblematic work of Uruguayan modernity, with a singular structural solution that anticipated the development of typologies based on geometric optimization. The technology foreseen for its materialization and the integration of architecture with other artistic disciplines quickly attracted local attention to the project, where it was widely publicized even before construction began. Years later, this interest would not diminish and the building would also be publicized internationally. The technical and historical information available on the building has been compiled and analyzed in order to recognize its technological characteristics, identify the vulnerabilities that affect it, as well as to evaluate its impact on the structural design. Its current state of preservation is good. However, untreated lesions have been observed, which could affect elements with a high structural compromise. It is essential to develop monitoring, maintenance and repair programs for the structure of heritage buildings such as the Positano in order to prevent, detect and repair early injuries that could jeopardize their physical integrity. For this purpose, it is essential to carry out a diagnosis of the building based on an integral and interdisciplinary analysis.
