Resumen
IBARRA, Tomás. Architecture as a concrete sculpture: the Temple of the Israelite Cemetery of Mar del Plata, Argentina (1961-1963). An. Investig. Arquit. [online]. 2023, vol.13, n.2, e201. Epub 01-Dic-2023. ISSN 2301-1505. https://doi.org/10.18861/ania.2023.13.2.3458.
This paper proposes to show the link between the project for the temple of the Israelite Cemetery of Mar del Plata and some parameters developed in the sculptural productions of the members of the Asociación Arte Concreto-Invención. To this end, the temple will be described architecturally, highlighting the resources referred to its geometric and mathematical genesis, the conformation of the dynamic interior space, the formal exterior resolution derived from the specificity of the programme, and the technical dimension deployed in the surface finishes. The correspondence between the design aspects of the temple and the parameters of concrete sculpture will be affirmed, based on the specific location of Carmen Córdova and Horacio Baliero in the cultural fabric of Buenos Aires in 1950, their participation in the oam group and subsequent critical developments with regard to concretist productions.
