In this article three keys are provided which, in the author’s opinion, are very relevant for developing a semiotics of communication following the teachings of Charles S. Peirce. These three elements are, first, some valuable bibliographical references, highlighting above all the excellent work developed by Wenceslao Castañares; secondly, the importance of Peirce’s notion of collateral experience to understand the semiotics of communication, and finally, the key anti-individualist conception of the social mind.
