The documentary organization has a transcendent role in the social process as a bridge between the sources of knowledge and society. To the extent that it offers good intermediation solutions, it will be a fundamental stone in access to information to improve the quality of life. The dissemination of knowledge depends on a brief, exact, clear, consistent, uniform, and concise documentary organization in different areas, from the traditional ones in libraries or databases or currently in the creation of institutional repositories or in the organization of content educational. The objective of this work is to explain the process that gave guidelines to the decisions taken to make hierarchical proposals in the assignment of categories of a thesaurus specialized in Library Science, Archives and Information, taking as an example the area of Information Resources. The methodology was based on terminological research carried out in the field of knowledge, through the deepening of the designations present in specialized works such as glossaries, dictionaries, encyclopedias, existing controlled vocabularies, but especially in university academic works. and study programs, confronted with the uses in practice. The terms obtained were contrasted in the unstructured interviews carried out with the experts in the topics covered by the specialty. Finally, a basic hierarchical structure of Information Resources is proposed.
