Resumen

VINAR ULRIKSEN, Daniel. Free Software, Free Science: exploring some lessons that Free Software can bring to Open Science. Infor [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.1, pp.336-371.  Epub 01-Jun-2022. ISSN 2301-1378.  https://doi.org/10.35643/info.27.1.9.

I first analyse the differences and nuances in the philosophy behind the words free and open, as crystallised in the field of software. I also try, through its history and the analysis of its ecosystem, to outline the necessary deconstruction of the Intellectual Property paradigm.

In the second part, a brief account of the history of computer science, Free Software and the Internet, allows us to identify commonalities in the processes of Science and Software development, and some characteristics or realisations of the world in the digital era that can contribute to Open Science.

In the third part, I briefly speculate, based on the trajectory of Free Software so far, on the possible scope for Open Science, before concluding by returning to the central point of the need for a radical reform of the regulation of the economy of the immaterial.

Palabras clave : OPEN SCIENCE; OPEN SOURCE; FREE SOFTWARE; KNOWLEDGE COMMONS; SOFTWARE PATENTABILITY.
