With more than twenty years of progress and fallbacks in Open Access in the world, today, driven uncoordinatedly by the need to share information during the pandemic, Open Science is the new paradigm that aims at consolidating science with a social perspective. Open Science has atomized tools that grew from different preceding spaces hand in hand with ICTs and in a context where the opening of the research process and the search for actions is not encouraged nor recognized, the institutions do not disseminate it, it is not embedded in the syllabus, it is not included in science and technology policies and the selfishness of appropriation persists within the framework of unchanged intellectual property legislation. The responsibilities -stated in multiple state of affairs reports- are shared: governments-funding agencies, universities-councils, and research centers, and at the end of the chain researchers who feel at ease with a highly questioned assessment model to measure the true social impact of research which in many cases, is supported by public funds. Although this brief and simplified account of the problems is not enough, this work tries to resume the conversation about the challenges and why not, the opportunities, in the coordination of governments, institutions, and researchers, to make Open Science a reality.
