Abstract

BANZATO, Guillermo; ROZEMBLUM, Cecilia  and  CHAVEZ AVILA, Salvador. Neither Diamond Angel, nor APC Demon. Diversity of management and financing models in Ibero-American Open Access scientific journals. Infor [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.1, pp.113-141.  Epub June 01, 2022. We reflect on the ecosystem of the management, editing, publication, and dissemination of Ibero-American scientific journals. We analyze the tensions, proposals, and results of the different alternatives for managing the results of science. We also reflect our experiences in the management of scientific journals from various roles that we have assumed throughout our professional careers, from public universities to the small publishing services company. We conclude that, for a more transparent, efficient and sustainable management of the publication of research results, it is necessary to clearly specify the editorial policy of institutions and companies producing scientific journals, that in the editorial ecosystem the convergence of different models is possible and that they are the managers of science through the destinations that they give to the budget of their institutions, who have the power to continue contributing exclusively to an increasingly expensive and monopolistic closed trading system or to support a broader and more inclusive ecosystem.
