The Archival Legislation of a country becomes an important management instrument for those who have the task of preserving the Documentary Heritage of the peoples. Its regulations and scope, with their successes and mistakes, naturally regulate the life of the document and the activity of its files. However, little is written about the precepts that each country must regulate in the order of managing its files and documents. Without the intention of prescribing recipes, since it is inferred that each of the countries adjusts to its objective reality, its priorities in the archival order and its realities that the economic, political, social and cultural order, the author values doctrinal aspects about the Archival Legislation, with an emphasis on its regulatory purpose, so that it serves as a guide when establishing an appropriate legal system for the Latin American territories.
