Abstract

SILVA, Tito Lívio Cabral Renovato. Naturalism and the Law: a theoretical analysis of legal institutes present in the novel «A carne» by Julio Ribeiro. Rev. Fac. Der. [online]. 2016, n.40, pp.77-96. ISSN 0797-8316.

Through studies of the legal phenomenon addressed in literary texts, this work aims to analyze the novel “A carne” by Julio Ribeiro writer and published in the year 1888, this work that depicts the esthetics of the literary school of naturalism and that caused controversy at the time it was published. Analyze the novel based on literary theories and theoretical constructions of the relationship between Law and Literature, to study the legal institutions narrated and discussed in specific situations, such as divorce, which damaged the characters of this novel because of the lack of legislation would regulate the matter, in the transition from Empire to Republic.
