Article that reflects on the holistic conception of nursing care and the current trend of proposing solutions to the multiple, diverse and complex problems of human beings from interdisciplinarity, integrating the varied knowledge of science and that knowledge derived from the various disciplines, since that a single one of them cannot provide a satisfactory response to all the needs and concerns that people may present.The concept of interdisciplinarity and research are presented as a common thread of opportunities for members of the health team. Certain skills and attitudes are required to successfully work with this strategy. Likewise, the development of teamwork methodologies between different disciplines is required, generating integrative qualities that allow for holistic responses to people's needs.

Accordingly, nursing has the opportunity to, through this integrative approach, develop its body of knowledge, which in turn will allow it to optimize the care processes of the people who are under its care.
