Introduction:

In Chile, the nurse fulfills the professional role supported by her discipline and experience as a caregiver, in order to achieve a positive change in the health of the individual. Nursing is declared in 1997, as an autonomous and independent profession, establishing are management (GDC) in relation to the promotion, prevention, maintenance, restoration of health, and ensuring the best administration of care resources.

Objective:

To reveal the perception of Care Management in community nurses.

Material and method:

Descriptive, cross-sectional study with a qualitative approach, sample for convenience to 9 Primary Health Care (PHC) nurses through semi-structured interviews.

Results:

metacategories are obtained; Conception of the GDC care management concept in PC, Expression of care management in PHC in a pandemic, Facilitators for care management in PHC, Obstacles to care management in PHC.

Discussion:

The GDC involves functions to meet the needs of users, described in the Sanitary Code; being a relevant need for APS. Nursing will be able to offer a model of coordinated community care, centered the person and oriented towards prevention. Conclusion: In Chile, managing PHC care requires to be seen from the complexity, in the collective, territorial, from the governance, and in an environment of uncertainty, care essentially visualized by the pandemic. Together with a technological development, of very incipient progress, which must respond to the demands of the speed of community care work.
