Resumen

CAPOCASALE BRUNO, Alejandra. Some thoughts on the new challenges of higher education. InterCambios [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.1, pp.54-64.  Epub 01-Jun-2023. ISSN 2301-0118.  https://doi.org/10.29156/inter.10.1.6.

Higher education is a key link in a society that has among its ultimate goals education as a social and public good as a right. In these institutions, students develop their autonomous thinking in a critical way from the construction of a problematic way of thinking linked to the realities in which they live and coexist on a daily basis. Subjects are given the opportunity to raise anthropological, social, cultural, artistic, political, ethical and economic questions related to their being in the world. Since the beginning of the 21st century, Latin America has been carrying out these processes in higher education institutions. New generations of young Latin Americans have entered higher education for the first time in their family history. In this way, higher education has been transformed into an educational space where a new democratic and inclusive form of schooling as a social and collective project can take shape. However, these intrinsic purposes of Higher Education for which we have been working, from the pandemic scenarios that are emerging in Latin America (and the world) since the year 2020, find a new challenge: how to continue working in the key of inclusive socialization when the conditions of socio-educational contexts seem to be exacerbating inequities? In this sense, some key analytical categories are presented as the axis of pedagogical work in higher education in Latin America to continue with the democratizing process of inclusive socialization even in pandemic scenarios.

Palabras clave : higher education; inclusive socialization; pandemic.
