Abstract

CORREA., Natalia H.; DI LORENZI., Alejandro  and  PARENTELLI., Varenka. Initiation in teaching of beginning teachers: a study in the Faculty of Information and Communication of the University of the Republic. InterCambios [online]. 2022, vol.9, n.1, pp.32-42.  Epub June 01, 2022. ISSN 2301-0118.  https://doi.org/10.29156/inter.9.1.5.

The present article deals with a study regarding a topic that has been scarcely addressed at a local level: the introduction to teaching of beginner university teachers. Here, the methodological aspects, the theoretical references, and the results of this study, which was carried out around the ambit of the Faculty of Information and Communication are shown. There is also a description of the tools and techniques used for gathering data, and an explanation of their relevance in relation to the proposed approach.

It was found that one of the main concerns of the interviewees is the scarce support in the first steps of their profession and that their main motivation for starting teaching is not necessarily vocational.

In the conclusions, a coincidence between some findings and what is proposed in the selected references can be found. There, a reflection about the institutional mechanisms needed for the support and induction of teachers in this role is presented, and some topics of interest for future approaches are proposed.

Keywords : beginning teachers; teaching initiation; university teaching.
