Orientales is a television miniseries produced by the Audiovisual Content Laboratory (LAC) at the Faculty of Information and Communication of the University of the Republic (Montevideo, Uruguay). Understanding documentary as a device, a pedagogical-productive project was developed focused on the generation of audiovisual products in which different modes of representing reality were addressed. Students, teachers, graduates and professionals participated in the production, combining theory and practice through an active and problem-based teaching methodology. This work presents the objectives set at the beginning of the project and the pedagogical-productive approach of the experience that managed to be broadcast by Tevé Ciudad (Montevideo’s public and open signal) and was awarded as the “Best Documentary journalistic Program in Studio” in the 8th “Nuevas Miradas en la Televisión” Award (2020).
