PELUSO, Leonardo et al. LITERATE CULTURE IN DEAF COMMUNITIES EDUCATION. Lingüística [online]. 2025, vol.41, e201. Epub 20-Maio-2025. ISSN 2079-312X. https://doi.org/10.5935/2079-312x.20250001.
This work was carried out by an interdisciplinary, interinstitutional, and international team composed of educators and linguists from Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. The objective was to investigate certain literacy processes present in bilingual and intercultural education proposals within Deaf communities. We began by characterizing the Deaf community as a linguistic community and by exploring the notions of deferred textuality and literacy.
The methodology employed was qualitative and exploratory, consisting of an analysis of three language teaching manuals. The analysis revealed the complexity of the materials studied, both due to the technological demands (for their creation and subsequent use by students) and the need for well-trained human resources, who are multilingual and possess diverse identity affiliations. This highlights the necessity for state policies to support this type of pedagogy.
