Abstract

VILLEGAS PINTO, España. GRAMMAR IDEAS IN BOLIVIA: SCHOOL HANDBOOKS (1867-1944). Lingüística [online]. 2023, vol.39, n.1, pp.145-159.  Epub June 01, 2023. ISSN 2079-312X.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2079-312x.20230007.

The present work focuses on historiographical linguistics and a description of four school grammars, belonging to different authors, published between the 19th and 20th centuries in Bolivia.

They are part of the educational, political and social context developed from the colony until 1950. In the same year an educational reform took place. The study is limited to carrying out an analysis of the prologues, preliminary notions and the classification of grammar and syntax in the works of these authors. It is corroborated that they did not move away from the models of previously published grammars: Real Academia Española (1771), Vicente Salvá's Grammar (1835) and Andrés Bello's Grammar (1847).

Keywords : school grammars; 19th century; Bolivia; educational context; linguistic historiography.
