Resumen

MARTINEZ-ATIENZA, María. GRAMMATIZATION, CANON AND TEXTUAL SERIES IN 20TH CENTURY COLOMBIA: THE GRAMÁTICA DE LA LENGUA CASTELLANA BY MARTÍN RESTREPO MEJÍA. Lingüística [online]. 2023, vol.39, n.1, pp.71-95.  Epub 01-Jun-2023. ISSN 2079-312X.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2079-312x.20230004.

Based on the theory of textual series (Hassler, 2002 and Zamorano Aguilar 2017 and 2018), we intend to analyze the different editions of the Gramática de la lengua castellana published by Martín Restrepo Mejía in Colombia between 1894 and 1928. The affinity of author to regenerationism, which governed the country in this period, favored the dissemination of his work and his doctrine in the Colombian school; indeed, it was adopted as a text in secondary education. Thus, we propose to analyze the grammatical theory present in the textual series, for which we will study the definition of grammar, the division into parts and the conceptualization of word classes. As we will see, regarding the last point, the syntax plays a fundamental role. On the other hand, according to the theory of the canon (Zamorano Aguilar, 2010), we will verify that the Academy and Andrés Bello, which constitute an explicit internal canon, are the ones that exerted the greatest influence on the work of the Colombian grammarian.

Palabras clave : Colombia; XXth century; grammatical doctrine; Martín Restrepo Mejía; textual series.
