Resumen

VAZQUEZ-LARRUSCAIN, Miguel. ALLOCUTION IN SPANISH: TOWARDS A MODULAR THEORY OF ADDRESS. Lingüística [online]. 2022, vol.38, n.2, pp.149-160.  Epub 01-Dic-2022. ISSN 2079-312X.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2079-312x.20220020.

These notes set forth a linguistic model reminiscent of glossematics, with four differentiated modules each dealing with variation in the system of address in Spanish according to the characteristics of each of the analyzed phenomena. The model distinguishes two main levels: content and expression. In each, the model further distinguishes between form and substance. Within the level of content, the study of social relations belongs to substance, and the way those relations are grammatically formalized and how they interact with each other belongs to form. A fundamental aspect of the model is the connection between the enunciative person and the grammatical person. The paper concludes with an analysis of the morphological instantiation of the grammatical person in different varieties.

Palabras clave : allocution; utterance; person; voseo; grammatical modules.
