Abstract

GIAMMATTEO, Mabel; TROMBETTA, Augusto M.  and  ALBANO, Hilda. A MORPHOLOGICAL AND SOCIOCULTURAL STUDY OF THREE GROUPS OF FORMATIONS IN -ERO/-ERA (SOCIAL TYPES, JOBS AND ACTIVITIES) IN CURRENT SPANISH IN ARGENTINA. Lingüística [online]. 2022, vol.38, n.2, pp.51-69.  Epub Dec 01, 2022. ISSN 2079-312X.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2079-312x.20220014.

In a previous work (Giammatteo and Albano 2002) we studied a set of words that emerged in the Argentine crisis of 2001 (nominal and verbal neologisms derived through different suffixes). For this article, we return to the terms that gave the work its title (piqueteros, caceroleros) to focus on words formed with the suffix -ero/-era. We distinguish three groups of derivatives: those referring to types, classes and social groups (piquetero, cacerolero, cartonero); the names of new trades (motoquero, notero) or popular forms for traditional trades (tachero, bondiero); denominations based on activities (tuitero, facebookero), preferences or choices (futbolero, eventero, abortera).

In the study, the morphological procedures of formation of these words are analyzed, and the sociocultural factors and the social value received are considered. From the perspective of teaching, this theme can arouse the interest of students in the forms of the Argentine variety and contribute to their appreciation.

Keywords : nominal derivatives in -ero/-era; morphological procedures; sociocultural factors; didactic implications.
