Abstract

MAZUELOS MRAK, Mercedes Laura. THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ENUNCIATOR IN CIELITOS PATRIÓTICOS ABOUT THE INDEPENDENCE OF AMERICAS. Lingüística [online]. 2022, vol.38, n.1, pp.9-28.  Epub June 01, 2022. ISSN 2079-312X.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2079-312x.20220002.

This paper discusses how the enunciator is constructed in the 19th century South American folklore music genre called Cielitos patrióticos. This analysis is based on the theoretical contributions of Systemic Functional Linguistics, which relates form, language function and context allowing to reveal the close relationship existing between the linguistic elements used and the characteristics of the enunciator determined by the historical-cultural framework of the music genre concerned.

In conclusion, the enunciator constitutes a “saying subject”, who is center stage of the context in which the recitation takes place, and assumes the role of an authorized voice due to his knowledge, experiences and abilities. This enables him to narrate the key events of Latin American independence through singing and music. At the same time, he interacts with other participants, especially the people he should inform, educate and entertain. In this way, he manages to achieve his goal: founding his homeland.

Keywords : Cielitos; enunciator; Systemic Functional Linguistics.
