Abstract

SILVA, Paulo Hernandes Gonçalves da  and  ALBUQUERQUE, Francisco Edviges. THE IDENTITY RELATIONS OF THE APINAYÉ PEOPLE: A STUDY FROM THE ANTHROPOMINES. Lingüística [online]. 2021, vol.37, n.1, pp.103-122.  Epub May 28, 2021. ISSN 2079-312X.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2079-312x.20210007.

This article deals with the identity relations of the Apinayé, inhabitants of the state of Tocantins. It promotes a study of the anthroponyms, considered as important elements of the identity of the indigenous peoples. It should be noted that the language is instead the trait of a people's identity in order to give it a symbolic space of identification, as in the case of the proper names of people who carry so many symbologies and cosmologies. It aims to understand the process of formation and designation of anthroponyms for this people. The methodology adopted consisted of the bibliographical review of authors who reflect on the subject and mainly by the discussion of the relations between subject, language and identity. The results obtained refer to the valorization of the mother tongue, through the knowledge of Antroponimia, to understand the identity and culture of indigenous peoples.

Keywords : Anthroponymy; Sciences of the Lexicon; Culture; Identity; Indigenous Apinayé.
